San Diego Destination Trip

I had pretty much decided that I wasn't going to go on a Destination trip this year. I was going to take the month of January off! Planning for these trips is work. Researching the locations, planning the outfits, making mood boards, finding the exact right clothing and accessories, ordering all the clothes and make sure it's what you are expecting. Then the hardest part, trying to stay within a reasonable budget!! Then there is booking a gorgeous resort but doesn't break the bank, renting the car and finding reasonable airfare. Yep..I was not going! Until one afternoon, I got an email from this senior right here. She wanted to know the details of the destination trip that I took every year. How she could apply and any other information that I could give her. Now I have been photographing her since she was in Kindergarten. If ever there was anyone I would do this for it would be her. So off we went and I am so glad we did it. It was truly an adventure of a life time. I know that it was a trip that Kennedy, her mom, my best photographer friend Lynn, and I will never forget.

We started early on Friday morning we had a two hour drive to Salvation Mountain. She had one boho outfit that I didn't have a plan for, but I figured I would know it when I saw it. As we were driving very close to the Mexican border, there it was. I saw hills of boulders forever. We literally pulled over on the side of I-8 and began shooting. A border patrol helicopter passed overhead. Someone's phone said Welcome to Mexico. Lol.

Then we were off to Salvation Mountain and East Jesus. These places were amazing and something like I have never seen in my whole life. A very different way to live. They are very proud of their life style, but it's nothing that I would chose for myself. Kennedy said, "I need to video this because I don't think anyone would even believe me when I tell them about this place."

Day 2 we spent shooting at the resort, Paradise Point and then that evening we went to Belmont Amusement Park and then ended the day with sunset pictures on the beach.

Day 3 we went to Balboa Park and then drove to the San Diego post card mural to take selfies right before we had to drive to the airport to go home.

It was a whirlwind but so much fun!!!!!
